ships,
the crystal clear waters around the Cornish Coast are reminiscent of a
Mediteranean paradise. Abundant in aquatic life from fan corals to the
gloriously coloured cuckoo wrasse, shipwrecks and underwater topography,
there is plenty to see for all levels and tastes regardless of experience.

This ancient Naval Port is surrounded by wrecks and reefs from the Mewstone
to Whitsand Bay. SS JAMES EAGAN LAYNE
US Liberty ship torpedoed in 1944, virtually intact in 22m in Whitsand Bay. HMS SCYLLA
Britain’s first artificial reef, located near the James Eagan Layne lying
in 23m this former RN warship is a must. SS ROSEHILL
This cargo ship was sunk during WWI and lies broken in 26m in the west of Whitsand
Bay. TALLAND BAY WRECKS
Three small wrecks lie close in to shore here and make good shallow dives B17 BOMBER
Lies half a mile offshore in 10m. THE RANNIES
This interesting reef lies just south of Looe Island and has lots of interesting
gullies that are worth exploring. KANTOENG DREDGER
After capsizing in a gale, the once largest dredger barge in the world foundered
near Fowey in 1937, the superstructure\is\well broken and lies in 13m.
FOWEY WRECKS
Old sailing ships and other cargo vessels have foundered on approach to Fowey,
little remains but some are worth a look, especially after a storm when the
seabed moves. St AUSTELL BAY REEFS
This entire bay is made up of shallow and deep reefs from Fowey to the Gwinges
Island and are teaming with aquatic life from Seals and Basking Sharks to
Fan Coral, well worth investigating if you enjoy marine life or photography. EASTFIELD
This armed merchantman was sunk during WWI by a U-Boat off the Dodman and lies
virtually intact in 40-50m. HERA
A four masted sailing ship hit Gull Rock and sank in 17m and is still recognisable
today. FALMOUTH & THE MANACLES
This historic natural harbour is strewn with wrecks and reefs alike from St
Anthony’s Head to the Manacles.
